“Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly.”

Its amazing to see small little caterpillar at various stages of its life cycle. I was fortunate to found these on my lemon and curry leaf plant and then I moved them on to a small lemon plant.
A butterfly caterpillar changes in size by going through some instar stages and then close itself in its pupa or Chrysalis and finally comes out as a beautiful butterfly.
This one came out to be a male Common Mormon (Papilio polytes) which is a common species of swallowtail butterfly widely distributed across Asia. It flew away so quickly that I could not get chance to capture its beauty properly. Better luck next time I hope 🙂
